Believe it or not, dental problems — bad teeth — are a major obstacle for many children we need to thrive in our state.

It’s hard to eat, hard to learn and hard to be happy when your teeth hurt. And when you don’t have insurance and can’t afford to go to the dentist, obstacles linger.

And that’s why we think Kids Free Dentistry Day is about the coolest thing we’ve heard about in a while.

Doctors Jason Jacoby and Joseph Ferraro and their dental team at Four Lakes Family Dental are offering free cleanings and fluoride treatments to children ages 17 and younger from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Nearly one in four kids has untreated cavities from untreated decay in the early stages. These free cleanings and treatments are a wonderful service and we thank Four Lakes dental for contributing to a state where children thrive.
