Kevin D. Schaefer
Kevin Daniel Schaefer, age 30, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012 as a result of an ATV accident. Kevin was born on July 14, 1982, the son of Mark and Sheila Schaefer, of Prairie du Sac. Kevin graduated from the Sauk Prairie High School in 2000. He attended Herzing College and later transferred to UW-Platteville, where he graduated in 2005 majoring in criminal justice and political science. Kevin previously worked summers during his college years for the Sauk County Parks Division. He worked three years as a correctional officer for the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He worked as a Sauk County Sheriff deputy for the Sauk County Jail for one year. He was currently employed at General Heating and Air Conditioning of Madison as a steamfitter apprentice.
Kevin enjoyed fishing, biking, fitness training, attending Brewers games and concerts with his friends. Kevin greatly valued the many friendships he made throughout his life. He could not have been more loved by his parents and his extended families and friends.
In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by his grandparents, Maurice and Cleo Schaefer of Sauk City and Margaret Bildsten of Baraboo. Aunts and Uncles, Connie (David) Roundy of Sauk City, Marcia (Jeff) Santaga of Waterford, Paul Peterson (Paula Pepper) of Baraboo, Steve (Kari) Schaefer of Madison. He is further survived by his cherished cousins, Heather (Dave) Haas, Sara Schaefer, Keith Schaefer, Eric (Ashley) Peterson, Katie Peterson, Jordan Santaga, Alexandra Santaga and Alicia Santaga.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lamont Peterson.
The family would prefer any memorials to be made in honor of Kevin’s life to the Sauk County or Dane County Animal Shelter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City.
