Kentucky shooting suspect thought to be headed to Wis. now in custody
MADISON, Wis. — A man wanted in the case of a shooting in Kentucky who may have been headed to Wisconsin is in custody, police said Wednesday.
Derrick Mays Thomas, 23, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, was wanted in connection to the Friday shooting of a man and woman in Owen County. The man was shot in the hand and leg, and the woman was shot in the arm. Both were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Thomas drove from the scene, police said, and he may have left with his girlfriend and their two children, ages 1 and 3.
Authorities said Thomas might have been in the Winchester or Mt. Sterling areas of Kentucky, but might also have headed toward Wisconsin.
On Wednesday, the Kentucky State Police said Thomas was captured. The agency thanked the public for sharing the information about the wanted man.
