Kenneth Peter Esser
TOWNSHIP OF CROSS PLAINS – Kenneth P. Esser passed away Sunday, June 6,, 2021, at UW Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1936, in Mount Horeb, Wis., to Ben and Lucinda (Lamberty) Esser.
Ken was enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961. He married his first wife, Phyllis Mackesey, in September of 1967 and she passed away in March of 1970. Ken married his second wife, Mary Carol Bunbury, on Oct. 16, 1971.
Ken wore many hats: husband, father, sailor, farmer, assessor, Officer of Catholic Financial Life, Knights of Columbus member, friend, jokester and many more.
Ken and Mary Carol adopted two children, Shereen Esser and Joshua Esser.
Ken is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Carol; children, Shereen (Damian McCoy) Esser and Joshua Esser; grandchildren, Rebecca Esser and Austin McCoy; sisters-in-law, Karen Esser and family, Flo Roth and family, Roselyn (Richard Amble) Peterson and family; brother-in-law, Tom (Marijo) Bunbury; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; sister, Kay Esser; and brother, Norman Esser.
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, 2021.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. IGNATIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 109 S. Sixth St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021. A Rosary will be held at the church before the Mass. Graveside service with military honors to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Pine Bluff.
