Kellie Geralyn Engelke

Kellie Geralyn Engelke

New Glarus, WI/Kellie Geralyn Engelke, age 52, moved onto her next great adventure on Friday, September 6, 2013, at her home in New Glarus while surrounded by many loved ones.

Kellie was born March 9, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa, the fifth child of William Louis Kessler and Kathleen Mary (Wedig) Kessler.

Kellie married Ken William Engelke on June 12, 1982. A graduate of Wahlert Catholic High School, Kellie was a woman of many talents who devoted herself to every endeavor throughout her life.

Ken and Kellie raised their family in New Glarus, Wisconsin, where Kellie frequently dedicated her time and energy to bettering the community. She was a member and often a leader in groups such as Jaycees, Girl Scouts, Community Partners, New Glarus Vision, Wilhelm Tell Board and the Swiss Miss dancers. Her “never say never” attitude enhanced the Sesquicentennial celebration of New Glarus. Some of Kellie’s other community driven missions include the Swiss Center of North America and one she was particularly proud of, the Leukemia Society’s Light the Night walk in New Glarus.

More recently, Kellie channeled her talents and passions into her wedding and event design business. In 2001, Kellie launched Personal Expressions with the partnership of JoAnn Hoesly. Subsequently, Kellie partnered with her daughter Korrine in creating many celebrations. She was a creative visionary with an extraordinary talent to elevate each event she touched by capturing the essence of what or who the event was for. She gave a hundred and ten percent making sure each detail was considered.

Kellie will be best remembered for her infectious laughter and enduring spirit. Kellie believed in the power of kindness, whether it was giving a hug or sharing a smile. She was never happier than when she was spending time at home on the patio with loved ones, gardening in her yard, shimmying on the dance floor or taking a “doc walk” with her family.

Kellie was predeceased by her grandparents Louis ‘Poppy’ and Glendoris Kessler and Urban ‘Jimmy’ and Bregetta Wedig; her niece Bridget Tashner; and her nephew Blake Tashner. Kellie is survived by her husband Ken; her children, Korrine, Kyle and Kelsey; her daughter-in-law Mary; her ‘German daughter’ Lara Hakim; her parents Bill and Kay; her siblings, Kim (Ken) Heinrichs, Kevin (Debbie) Kessler, Chris Kessler, Kitzie (Marty) Tashner, Kurt (Tiffany) Kessler, Kara Kessler, Kory (Kim) Kessler; and her extended family (both related and unrelated) that blessed her life.

Kellie and her family cherish all of the amazing love and support she received throughout her life.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12. 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the WILHELM TELL GROUNDS, W5199 Highway W, New Glarus, WI.

On October 13th there will be a celebration, “Celebrating, Life, Love and Laughter”, at the Monticello House in Monticello, WI. We welcome you to celebrate Kellie in a way, with lots of love, dancing and above all laughter.

The Zentner-Beal Funeral Home of New Glarus is assisting the family.
