Kay Lynn Marten
Dodgeville – Kay Lynn Marten, age 52 of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 25, 2014.
Kay was born on September 2, 1962 to Gerald and Inez (Foss) Hubbard of Ridgeway. Growing up she attended school in Ridgeway and graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1981. Upon graduating she met the love of her life, Donny Marten and they married on April 30, 1983. They farmed together before settling into a home in Dodgeville; together they raised two sons, Jeremy and Travis. Kay began working for Lands’ End in 1984 and continued with there until early 2014.
Through the years Kay enjoyed many things but the time spent with family and friends was when you would see her smile the most. While her sons were in school, Kay could always be found in the crowd at athletic events, whether it was the second bleacher at a basketball game or the top bleacher during football games, she loved to cheer on her boys. She also enjoyed going to the movies with the girls, having lunch with the “Marten Dine-In” at Pizza Hut, or just relaxing at home with Donny. She especially loved spending time with her beautiful granddaughters, singing, dancing and giggling.
Kay is survived by her husband, Donny Marten; two children, Jeremy (Liz) Marten and Travis (Stephany) Marten; two granddaughters, Ava and Stella Marten; her dad, Gerald Hubbard (special friend, Betty Dietzman); two sisters, Penny Hubbard and Cheryl (Jeff) Reynolds; a brother, Jerry Hubbard; and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Inez and her brother, Terry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kay’s name to Upland Hills Hospice.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Upland Hills Hospice for the loving care given to Kay.
