Kathryn L. “Kay” Culver
Kathryn L. “Kay” Culver, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 1, 2013.
She was born November 6, 1938 in Dodgeville to the late Marcus and Della (Laufenberg) Lind. She attended Lone Rock High School. Kay was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Gordon Culver. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2013. After raising their children, Kay joined Gordon in their many restaurant ventures, the Waterfront Restaurant and Riverview Ballroom in Sauk City and Gordon’s Drive Inn in Mazomanie. She enjoyed watching golf and was a past member at Lake Wisconsin Country Club, playing cards with her girlfriends, and her friendly Packers and Vikings rivalry with her neighbor and close friend. Kay took pride in her cooking and kitchen skills and enhancing many recipes. She enjoyed Big Band Music and dancing with her husband.
She is survived by her four children, Bruce (Nancy) Culver, Debbie (Bob) Ferguson, Jolene (Leon) Herbrand and Brian Culver; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Nichols; and a brother in law, Willis Culver; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jolene; brother Jack; brother in-law, Ron Nichols.
Kay’s family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Varley, Kathy at Pro Time and a special neighbor and close friend, Kim Gulden.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 4:00 pm at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at the Prairie du Sac Cemetery at a later date.
