Katherine A. “Kay” Reding, 80, of Lancaster formerly of Potosi died on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Tennyson. Rev. Richard Leffler will officiate. Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Potosi. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the Katherine “Kay” Reding Memorial Fund.

Katherine was born on June 25, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Richard Conrad and Alice Augusta (Tudhope) Waechter. She was married to Jerome Reding at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2997. “Kay” did cleaning for years cleaning many businesses and homes for people. She later went to work for Homeward Bound, Lancaster where she did elder care. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
Kay was a true “Country Girl” where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, and fishing on the Mississippi and anywhere else possible.
She is survived by her children, Fred Schmitt, Bill (Vada) Schmitt, Josie (Darren) Graybill, Kim Marino; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Dan Schmitt in 2007, sister, Esther Smith and brother, Daniel Waechter.
