K-9 stops burglar at Mallards team store, police say

A police K-9 helped stop a man attempting to steal from the Madison Mallards team store Friday night, police said.

According to a release, a Mallards employee called police after seeing an intruder on a security camera around 11 p.m. When police arrived, they ordered the man to give himself up or he may be bitten by K-9 Bowie. The man ran off, so K-9 Bowie chased him down and latched onto his arm.

Marquis Waskow, 30, was arrested on several tentative charges, including burglary, theft, damage to property and resisting officers. He was carrying a metal pry bar and wearing a stolen Mallards jersey and sweatshirt.

A few doors at the store at 2920 N. Sherman Ave. had been damaged after being pried open.
