Jury deliberations begin Friday in motel shooting trial
Jury deliberations begin on Friday in the trial of a Waukesha man accused of shooting at two Dane County sheriff’s deputies last year.
Geoffrey Herling, 52, is accused of trying to kill the deputies during a shootout at a Middleton motel. He is charged with two counts of attempted first- degree murder.
During the trial on Thursday, Herling’s lawyer said he didn’t intend to kill the deputies. Instead, he said Herling was trying to provoke them to kill him.
