Joy Gander, age 78, of Richland Center, suddenly passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Richland Hospital. She was born in Richland County on August 12, 1936, the daughter of Joseph F. and Idella (Curless) Reith. Following her graduation from the Richland County Teacher’s College, Joy was united in marriage with Eldon Lee Gander on September 14, 1957 in Waukon, Iowa. They raised their family together and Joy was an active, dedicated member of the Richland Baptist Temple. Joy also worked for 35 years at O’Bryan Brothers and volunteered with the Foster Grandparent Program. She so enjoyed working with children, and cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Doctor Reverend CD Fretz will officiate and burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation for Joy Gander will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 PM.
