Jonathan “Jon” Keul

MADISON – Jonathan “Jon” Keul, age 64, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021.

The day before his passing he was surrounded by family and friends, celebrating Jon’s life. Jon smiled the entire day and was grateful to be surrounded by those who meant most to him.

He was born on April 9, 1957, in Janesville, the son of Kenneth and Janice (Cook) Keul. Jonathan graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1975 and attended MATC receiving a degree in criminal justice. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, the incomparable, Bernadette Gilberts on May 3, 1986. Jon spent his entire life working in the Madison community helping others.

Jon was an icon in the Madison sports community. He was a staple in Madison’s intramural sports community. He was also involved in Madison East High School athletics, East Madison Little League, he was the honorary gym dad for his daughter’s gymnastics team, and was the backbone of his “two hand shove” touch football league.

Jonathan is survived by his son, Jared (fiancée, Sara Schemel) Keul; daughter, Morgan (partner, Ryan Pflieger) Keul who is expecting Jon’s first grandchild due on Bernadette’s birthday in October; sister, Jennifer (John Michael Whitman) Keul-Whitman; brother, Thomas Keul; and three nephews, Shawn Gilberts, Jacob Lazarz and Taylor Keul. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Timothy, and his wife, Bernadette.
