John William Deal

John William Deal, 86, of Readstown, passed away on October 29, 2014 at the Bland Bekkadal Hospice Center in Viroqua.

He was born June 10, 1928 to Grover Cleveland and Beliuah Belle (Frye) Deal in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. In 1932 the family moved to Wisconsin and resided in rural Richland and Vernon Counties. He was a very hardworking man employed in various occupations. The last years of his life were spent farming. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, and he especially loved woodworking and spent many hours in his shop. He created many beautiful pieces that he gave to his children and grandchildren.

On June 15, 1950 he was united in marriage to Carol Delores (Tadder) Deal. Their union lasted 42 years when she preceded him in death. In April of 1993 he was united in marriage to Doris E. Turner.

John is survived by his wife Doris of Readstown; 8 children: Kay (Garry) Sheire of Bloomington, WI, John (Linda) Deal of Readstown, Charles Deal of Reedsburg, Sue Sheire of Richland Center, Joe (Kathy) Deal of Viola, Ann Deal of Wauzeka, Carol Deal of Readstown, Valerie (Terry) Harris of Soldiers Grove; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 4 sisters: Rose (Frank) Dolezelek, Jean (Carl) Hackenburg, Clara Perkins all of Illinois, Veleta Fergusen of California; 1 sister-in-law: June McNelly of Rockbridge; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, sons Larry and Mark, daughters Janet, Janette, and Barbara, granddaughter Melissa, brothers Hobert and Rodger, sister Ina, son-in-law Jack Sheire, brother-in-laws Bud Perkins and Garry Fergusen.

A celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center with Reverend Craig Peach officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.

The family requests memorials be directed to the Bland Bekkadal Hospice Facility in Viroqua. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
