John T. Donagan
John “Grandpa Wong” T. Donagan, age 69, of Janesville, died on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center.
He was born in Janesville on Sept. 13, 1944, the son of John T. and Genevieve (Madden) Donagan. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1963 and Madison Area Technical College with a degree in Culinary. John had been a Janesville resident most of his life and married Rose Neeson on March 20, 1971, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Janesville. He had been employed by the Janesville Country Club as a Chef for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and volunteered for the church’s homeless shelter.
John is survived by his wife, Rose Donagan of Janesville; 4 sons: Tim (Lynn) Donagan of Janesville, Sean (Michelle) Donagan of Clinton, Tom Donagan of Janesville and Daniel (Kim) Donagan of Edmond, OK; daughter, Colleen (Chris) Hanson of Evansville; 7 grandchildren: Erin and Ally Donagan, Colin and Shannon Donagan, Avalon Donagan and Tyler and Molly Hanson; and 3 sisters: Margaret (Mike) Lynch of Milwaukee, Susanne Donagan of Janesville and Marilyn Shuman of Janesville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Michael Shuman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 307 E. Wall St., Janesville with Rev. Stephen Umhoefer officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
