John P. Dolan
Madison-John Patrick Dolan, age 69, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at UW hospital and Clinics.
He was born on June 6, 1948, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of John Dolan and Audrey (Adler) Dolan. He married Linda Hershberger in 1976. John held many jobs and careers throughout his life, including owning and operating his own wine store in Madison with the partnership of his good friend Dan. Most recently, his career passion shifted to his position as Toyota Smart Motors where he was an expert in all things “green” or hybrid. John was a man of intelligence and refinement; he enjoyed good wine (he had an incredibly distinguished palate), good food (a self-proclaimed gourmet), and beautiful art.
Always a deep thinker, he would never shy away from profound conversation about topics like philosophy or educating you on the latest innovations in “green,” hybrid car technology. He was an avid bicyclist. More than anything, John loved simply spending time with family and friends, listening to classical music or watching sports (especially football and basketball.)
John is survived by his wife, Linda; son, John Ryan Dolan; two sisters, Cindy (Paul) Schmidt, Shelley Kettelsen; and four brothers, Steve Dolan, Bill Dolan, Tim Dolan, James (Susan Petersen) Dolan.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the American Liver Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Services are pending
