John Laeseke

John Laeseke, 65, of Avoca died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville. He was born March 10, 1947 the son of Louis Selden and Emma Jean (Ewing) Laeseke in Reedsburg. John was drafted in the Army serving in Vietnam and earned the Bronze Star for heroism. On June 11, 1976 John married June Jewel. John enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing. He and Jewel went to Tomah every few weeks where they could go to his favorite place the Hearty Platter. He enjoyed the time he spent farming with his sons Jamie and Jeff. John loved every minute he was able to spend with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife June Laeseke of Avoca; three children, Jewel (Scott) Huffman of Hillsboro, Jamie (Stacy) Laeseke of Richland Center, Jeff (Jessica) Laeseke of Blue River, four grandchildren, Caleb and Robert Huffman and Lilly and Hunter Laeseke; brothers and sisters: Mary Jean (Richard) Henderson of Baraboo, Nancy (Donald) Dickerson of Sierra Vista, AZ, Phillip Laeseke of Lyndon Station, Linda Gneiser of Loganville, Elgie Laeseke of Lyndon Station, Barbara (Randy) Wells of Reedsburg; brother and sister-in-law, Dick (Jan) Jewel of Eagle River, Rita Jewel of Baraboo, many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Emma Jean Laeseke, paternal grandparents Louis and Florence Laeseke, maternal grandparents Archie and Erma Ewing, mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Ruby Jewel and brother–in-law Rod Jewel.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with Reverend Craig Peach officiating. Burial will follow in the East Pine River Cemetery with Military Graveside Rite being provided by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Thursday, December 20 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at
