John F. Gobrecht
John F. Gobrecht, 91, of Belmont, Wisconsin, died on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. John was born on November 1, 1925, the son of Fritz and Hazel (Harms) Gobrecht. He was united in marriage to Lenice “Tootie” Keene on January 11, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2000. John graduated from Rewey High School. John farmed for 25 years and also sold insurance for many years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, walking, and also began cross stitching upon his retirement. John earned many award for his cross stitching work and gave several pieces away as gifts. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club.
John is survived by six children, Larry (Marie) Gobrecht of Darlington, WI; Jim (Mary) Gobrecht, Karen Isely, and JoAnn Riechers all of Belmont; Kathie Lindsay of Monticello, WI; Julie (Phil) Henneman of Boscobel; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Petersen of Meza, AZ; Eileen White of Waukesha, WI and nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two grandsons, William Gobrecht and Keith Henneman, and granddaughter, Tina Gobrecht.
