John C. Bradley

John C. Bradley

John C. Bradley age 72 passed away April 30 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 7, 1944 in Dubuque Iowa, the son of Clifford and Isabelle (Lewis) Bradley.

John graduated from Dubuque Senior High in 1962 and went on to further his education at UW-Platteville and earned his Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education. He taught Vocational Ag at Milton High School for three years, but his true passion was farming.

He married Gloria McNeill on June 29, 1968 at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodgeville. They were blessed with three sons and he farmed for seven years until a tragic farm accident in 1977 left him a quadriplegic. With grit and determination, John learned to drive an adaptive van and went to work at Dodgeville Agri-Service for 36 years. He truly relished his time with his co-workers and customers at the feed mill.

John enjoyed and attended his sons’ sporting events and music activities and was so proud of all their accomplishments. He enjoyed driving his van along the countryside, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and the rest of his family. He also enjoyed the company of his many good friends. His grandchildren became the lights of his life.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria, their three devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff (Jenn), Brian (Karen), and Eric (Stacey). He was loved dearly and affectionately known as Bompa to his seven grandchildren, Annabel, Austin, Tyler, Claire, Alana, Elaine and Kleine. He is further survived by his brother Robert (Sharon) and two sisters JoAnn Datisman and Jean (Bruce) Rafoth. His father-in-law Bob McNeill, sister-in-law JoAnn (Richard Orienti), brothers-in-law Terry (Laura) and Bob (Mary Kay), special nieces Leah and Jenna McNeill and special nephew Bob McNeill, as well as his other special nieces and nephews. He belonged to the best of two families, the Bradley’s and the McNeill’s.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Duane Datisman and mother-in-law Helen McNeill.

John wanted to thank his special group of caregivers who meant the world to him: Rosemary, Jan, Sharon, Kim, Crystal, Patti and Danielle for their support over the years. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Bishop and Dr. Kent Kramer and the entire staff at Upland Hills Health for their amazing care over these many years.

John was a hero and inspiration to many and all who knew him had their lives enriched. He will always be with us.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Dodgeville. Rev. Mark Williamson will officiate.
