John A. Massey
MADSION -John “Jack” A. Massey, age 81, died on July 8, 2014.
He was born in Madison, the son of John B. and Frieda (Schellin) Massey on March 18, 1933. Jack attended Madison East High School until he was called to active duty from the Air National Guard. He served in Korea as an airplane mechanic with the Air Force, most notably he worked on planes for The Flying Tigers.
Following his military service, Jack lived his entire life in Madison. He worked for local pest control companies, Neesvig Woodwork and ultimately for the State of Wisconsin in the “sign shop” until his retirement. Jack was a long time member of the VFW Post No. 7591.
Jack is survived by a son, John D. Massey; a granddaughter, Haley Massey; and sister, Jeanne Neesvig; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven J. Massey; former wife, Elizabeth (Puls) Massey; and brother-in-law, Robert Neesvig.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Entombment will follow.
Jack’s family would like to thank the staff at Rest Haven Health Care Center for the loving care they provided to Jack over the past several years, and most recently, the staff of University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Emergency Department and unit B6/6 for the compassionate care given to Jack during his last days.
