Jerome C. “Auggie” Kruchten
Jerome C. “Auggie” Kruchten, age 64, passed away from complications of cancer at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
He was born in Roxbury on July 28, 1950 to James J. and Eleanor (Maier) Kruchten. He graduated from Waunakee High School in 1968. Auggie married Diane H. Storkson on September 27, 1969.
He worked for Central Wisconsin Center in Madison, before opening Mazo Liquor on May 17, 1978, which he owned and operated for 20 years. Auggie looked forward to traveling and trips to Florida with Diane, rides in the SSR, boating on Lake Wisconsin, driving his golf cart around the neighborhood, socializing with friends and spending time with his grandchildren. He was the current President and active member of the Wisconsin River Sportsman Club, proud past sponsor of Mazomanie Youth Sports, and Treasurer of the Eagle Point Home Owners Assn.
He is survived by his wife, Diane of Merrimac; 2 sons, Troy (Brenda) of Merrimac and Todd (Lynn) of Madison; 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Hunter, Devon and Aidan; parents, James and Eleanor Kruchten; siblings, Marge (Bob) Coates of Waunakee, Marvin (Rhonda) Kruchten of Arena, Jean (Cary Schultz) Kluge of Madison and Shirley (Bacilio “Salvador” Ferrer) Guitzkow of Poynette; close friends, Donnie Kirch, Ron and Barb Johnson, Cecil and Shiryl Roberts, and Steve and Linda Gnewikow; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Kruchten.
As per Auggie’s wishes, a Celebration of His Life will be held, starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Wisconsin River Sportsman Club, 10041 Cty. Hwy. Y Mazomanie.
