Jerilyn “Jeri” Gorder

MONONA-Jerilyn “Jeri” Gorder, age 68, of Monona, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Meriter Hospital. She was born the daughter of Gerald and Dorothy (Haug) Femrite of Monona. Jeri dedicated her life to caring for children in her home. She made an enormous impact on many children’s lives over the years.

Jeri was united in marriage to Steven Gorder on May 21, 1967. She enjoyed working in her gardens, spending time with family, camping, traveling, and watching eagles soar. Jeri was the happiest with a baby in one arm, and a child bouncing on one knee.

She is survived by her husband; son, Joel (Jill Cavanaugh) of Washington D.C.; daughter, Stacy Gorder of Monona; sister, Karen (Mal) Anderson of Oregon; brothers, Richard (Jeanne) Femrite of Monona and Jeff Femrite of Madison; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. Memorials are suggested to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Madison, Inc., 2716 Marshall Court, Madison, WI 53705, www.rmhcmadison.org.

The family would like to thank the staff of Meriter Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion over the years. “You all became Jeri’s friends….and ours.”
