Jeanette S. Paul

MADISON-Jeanette S. Paul, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Oakwood East Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on March 31, 1925, in Madison, the daughter of Karl and Sophie (Drengson) Wagner. She was a graduate of Madison East High School in 1943, and UW-Madison in 1947. On Sept. 18, 1948, she married Roland Paul at Bethel Lutheran Church. Jeanette was an avid bridge player and a member of many bridge clubs.

She was an active lifelong member of Bethel, including working at Bethel Parish Shop, cooking for many congregational events, accompanying the Cherub Choir and participating in the Friendship Club. She was also an active member of Sigma Alpha Iota and BY P.E.O. Jeanette spent the final years of her life enjoying all of the activities at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge. Her gracious spirit was infectious and she had many friends, always seeking an opportunity to meet new people. Her favorite role was being “Gramsy” to her family.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Jacqui; and son-in-law, John Shanda; grandson, Jason; and his wife, Kimberly Shanda; favorite great-grandson, Brady Paul Shanda; and sister-in-law, LaVon Scanlan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland; and daughter, Susan Paul. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, with Pastor John Swanson and Chaplain Wayne Shannon presiding.

A private burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Memorials in Jeanette’s name may be gifted to Bethel Media Ministry, Bethel Horizons or the Oakwood Foundation.
