Jean Marlene Yanke
Jean Marlene Schluter Yanke, age 81, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014.
She was born in Reedsburg on November 13, 1932, the daughter of the late Rollin and Clara (Kruse) Schluter. Jean married Deane A. Yanke on July 22, 1950. She was a graduate of Reedsburg High School, Sauk County Teachers College, and then graduated with High Honors from UW-Platteville. Jean taught elementary school in Sauk Prairie until her retirement. She then got her CNA and worked at The Pines. She also got her real estate license and worked with Young & Lukens.
Jean loved children, gardening, singing, reading, travels, and playing cards with her family. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the church choir, and The Messengers.
Survivors include her husband, Deane, of Prairie du Sac, two sons, Gary (Paula) of Milton and Kurt of Fort Atkinson; a daughter, Gwendolyn (Douglas) Ringelstetter of Prairie du Sac; 3 sisters, Dorothy Stolte of Reedsburg, Jeanette (Jim) Roloff of Mahomet, IL and Diane (Robert) Gardner of Pringle, SD; a brother, Dennis (Jean Ann) Dankert of Reedsburg; 5 grandchildren, Justin (Denise), Jordan, Beth, Kim and Marcas; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Luck.
A private family memorial service will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating.
Jean’s family wishes to thank the caring staff at Oak Park Memory Care in Baraboo, along with Agrace Hospice.
