JBC Coffee Roasters is partnering with the Madison Public Library Foundation, which works to support the public library system, with its new Blossom Blend. From July 1 through July 15, if you purchase a bag of Blossom Blend online, 50% of the proceeds will go toward the foundation.

JBC launched the Blossom Blend initiative this year. For the first two weeks of each quarter, JBC chooses an organization or nonprofit that makes a difference in the community, says Laura Salinger Johnson, co-owner of JBC. The Madison Public Library Foundation is the third beneficiary so far.

“We chose the Madison Public Library Foundation as our third quarter partner for Blossom because we view libraries as local treasures and crucial gateways to knowledge, literacy, community and culture,” Johnson says. “Our local libraries are important safe spaces providing free educational resources while bringing the community together in what can be an isolating digital age.”

JBC started the Blossom Blend in January project as a way to give back to the community because it was easy to feel helpless after witnessing people’s struggles, especially with the added burden of the pandemic, Johnson says. Previous partnerships have included the Dane County Humane Society and the Rape Crisis Center.

The certified organic and fair trade coffee blend from local roasters has notes of lemon, honey and apricot, making it a lovely summer coffee. You can even brew a cup and read a book at the same time.

Just like the organizations it benefits, the roast is different each quarter — but the mission remains the same.

“As a company, we feel it is important to give back to our community,” Johnson says. “There are so many great organizations doing great things and they need our support.”
