JANESVILLE, Wis. — One woman is in custody after a hit and run lead officers to her vehicle Sunday morning.

At around 4 a.m.,  Janesville police officers were looking for a suspect vehicle in a hit and run in the 300 block of S. Jackson St.

While looking for the suspect vehicle, an officer saw a vehicle driven by Alexandra Kjell headed south on Jackson St. leaving a fluid trail.

The officer was driving behind the car when the Kjell started speeding away. The officer initiated a traffic stop to investigate the driver’s possible involvement.

After a five-minute pursuit through the trailer park between S. Jackson St. and Beloit Ave, the officer was able to box the car in at a dead-end street.

On checking her license, the officer found that Kjell’s driving status was revoked after 5 previous OWI convictions. Kjell’s vehicle was not the one involved in the original hit and run.

Due to the scent of alcohol on her breath, the officer then conducted a field sobriety test. Kjell showed signs of impairment and was arrested for her 6th OWI offense among other traffic offenses. She is currently being held in Rock County Jail. Toxicology results are pending.
