Janesville school board to hold special meeting as Rock Co. moves back to Phase One of COVID-19 plan
JANESVILLE, Wis. — The Janesville School District will hold a special board of education meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the district’s plan following an announcement from the Rock County Public Health Department that the county is moving back into Phase One of its coronavirus response plan.
Public health officials said in their announcement Tuesday morning that Rock County schools should provide flexibility and virtual learning options for two weeks after holiday or seasonal breaks.
The special education board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday. It will be live streamed on the school district’s YouTube channel.
Rock County health officials said the decision to move back into was caused by a large increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
Since Nov. 1, the Rock County Public Health Department has reported 2,364 new cases of COVID-19. That’s 30% of the county’s entire number of cases in just 16 days.
