Janesville robbery suspect arrested after police chase, crash
JANESVILLE, Wis. — Police say a man suspected of a gas station robbery in Janesville overnight has been arrested after crashing his car in a police chase in Beloit.
30-year-old Trevor Richards of Janesville was arrested. He’s currently in the Rock County Jail on a probation hold, as he also faces charges of attempted first degree intentional homicide for a stabbing in Madison in late May.
Janesville Police say they responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Golden Oil BP station at 1840 Beloit Avenue just after 5 a.m. Friday. They say Richards demanded money from the register, but ran away after not getting any money.
Richards was seen getting into a white Chevy Avalanche nearby. That vehicle was seen in Beloit a short time after the attempted robbery, and police started to chase it before the Avalanche crashed near the intersection of Rockport Road and S. Walnut Street.
Richards was arrested and police say there is no further threat to the community.
