Janesville man in rental truck charged with 5th OWI
Hit-and-run case leads to 5th OWI offense
JANESVILLE — A Janesville man is facing his fifth OWI charge after police said he was involved in a hit-and-run.
The incident was reported around 2:15 a.m. Thursday.
Witnesses said the suspect vehicle knocked over a grease Dumpster in the parking lot at TAASBAG bar, 2339 Milton Ave., then continued south on Hwy. 51 from Hwy. 14.
The suspect vehicle was a 26,000-pound rental truck, police said.
The passenger jumped out of the truck when he noticed the squad car following. He was later located and released to a responsible party, police said.
The driver, 29-year-old Ricardo Moreno, Jr., stopped the truck at the intersection of Mt. Zion Avenue and N. Ringold Drive, according to police.
Police said they arrested Moreno after he failed a field sobriety test. He’s currently being held in the Rock County jail, and faces charges of OWI fifth offense, operating after revocation and hit-and-run.
