Janesville man arrested in connection to Brodhead liquor store robbery
Police: County Line Beverage robbed at gunpoint Oct. 9
A Janesville man was arrested Monday in connection to an armed robbery at a liquor store in Brodhead in early October, Janesville police said.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to County Line Beverage at 4141 South County Road T at 8:57 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery Oct. 9.
The store’s clerk told deputies the man displayed a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money from the cash register and a cordless phone on the counter. The clerk gave the man an unknown amount of cash from the register and the phone.
During an investigation into the robbery, Brandon Collier become a suspect, according to a release from the Janesville Police Department. Collier was also the suspect of an earlier burglary in the area and had recently lived in the area of County Line Beverage.
On Oct. 21, police executed a search warrant at 1324 E. Racine St. in Janesville, which is where Collier had been staying during the time frame of the robbery, authorities said.
As a result of the investigation, Collier was arrested Monday on tentative charges of armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Stacy Paul, a friend of Collier, was arrested on tentative charges of party to the crime of armed robbery and obstructing.
