Jane L. Baker
Jane L. Baker, age 86, of Dodgeville, passed away on April 3, 2020 at Bloomfield HCC following a long illness.
The former Jane Fisher was born on March 21, 1934 in Des Moines, IA to Arthur and May (Maxon) Fisher. She was a 1952 graduate of Davenport High School. Jane married James L. Baker of Hastings, MN on October 15, 1955. The couple lived in the St. Paul, MN area for many years where Jane worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital. They moved to Manchester, IA where Jane took care of her elderly parents for many years. Jane then moved to Greeley, IA where she worked at area nursing homes before settling in the Home Health field for several years. Jane was a dedicated member of the Edmund Evangelical Free Church in Edmund, WI and more recently had been attending Abundant Life Christian Center in Dodgeville. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, gardening, canning and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Art and May Fisher; two grandchildren, Joanne Hutchinson and Andy Baker; her former husband, James Baker; her youngest brother Richard Fisher; a sister Mary Lou DeLacerda and a great grandson, Robert Hutchinson Jr.
Jane is survived by five children, Merlyn (Debbie) Baker; Cheryl Baker; Linda (Rich) Halatek; Matthew (Kate) Baker and Marilee Timmerman; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three sisters, Faye Johnson; Louann (Art) Bodenbender and Patty Atchley; a brother, Dale (Judy) Fisher as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
Private family funeral services will be held.
Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Platteville, WI at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 11, 2020 with Pastor Wayne Kennedy officiating. A video of the service can be viewed at janesjourneytoheaven.com beginning Sunday afternoon, April 12, 2020. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Jane requested memorials to be used for her favorite charities.
