James R. Knoche
Madison – James R. Knoche passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. The son of Gustave and Nora (O’Neill) Knoche, he was born on May 6, 1928 in Madison, Wisconsin. He married Jean (Karnes) on September 12, 1953.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Jim was a past president of the PTA at Lakeview School, an assistant Cub Scout Master, and his greatest enjoyment came from coaching East Madison Little League. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. He was a ceramic tile setter by trade and a proud member of the Bricklayers Union Local 13. Jim was a member of St Peter Catholic Church and the Madison Elks 410.
He is survived by his wife Jean; sons Rick (Yvonne) of McFarland and Joe of New York City; daughters Laura of Verona and Kim (Seth) of Paddock Lake; grandchildren JJ and Lisa Rezner, Lauren, Andrew and Marilyn Zupkoff, and Jenna and Nick Knoche and sister Catherine Navarre of Bellevue, WA.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Shirley (Peggy) Sauer and Doris McDonald; his father and mother-in-law, Sherman and Gladys Karnes and a granddaughter Katherine (Katie) Zupkoff.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, with Pastor Cynthia Bacon-Hammer officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Dr. Albert Musa, the nurses of St. Mary’s 4 East Cardio Unit and Danielle of Agrace Hospice.
