James Paul Muhich
James Paul Muhich, formerly of Oshkosh, WI, passed away peacefully in Madison, WI, on November 17, 2017, after a brief period of declining health, with his loving family at his side.
He was born on January 17, 1936, in Eveleth, MN, to Mary and John Muhich. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, obtained a master’s degree from the University of Michigan, and doctorate preparation from Ohio State.
In 1960 he married Mary Petik and they eventually settled in Oshkosh in the early 1960’s where he taught math at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and they raised their family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 52 years, his parents, brother John Muhich and daughter Amy Muhich. He is survived by his daughters, Dr. Janet Muhich (husband Scott and daughters Abby and Alina) Binghamton, NY, and Sharon Ihrig (husband Jim and daughters Elizabeth and Sarah) Middleton, WI. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
Jim was a faithful member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter’s Church), a Eucharistic Minister to shut-ins, a life-long bridge player and loved traveling, hiking trips and vacations with family and friends. He also enjoyed his years of running and later in life “jogging” with his colleague and friend Ed Gade.
A funeral mass will be held in Eveleth, MN, at Resurrection Catholic Church on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 11 AM.
