James M. Leahy
James M. Leahy, age 79, of Janesville, died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison. He was born in Sheboygan on July 26, 1935, the son of Matthew and Elsie (Dickman) Leahy. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving two tours and retired in 1978. James married Joyce Schwartzlow in Evansville on March 30, 1957. He owned The Hut Restaurant in Indianford, and was plant manager for Caterpillar in Edgerton, which later became GAF Elk Company, retiring on Sept. 30, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Leahy; 3 children, Mike (Laura) Leahy of Nevada, Sharon Leahy of Janesville and Bill (Angel Julian) Leahy of Missouri; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; and daughter-in-law, Diane Leahy.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Interment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover, WI.
