James M. “Jim” Morgan
MADISON, Wis. — James M. “Jim” Morgan, age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 15, 2017. He was born on Jan. 2, 1938, the son of Marshall and Helen Morgan. Jim was a lifelong resident of Madison’s east side and graduated from Madison East High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Janice “Jan” Northrop on June 27, 1959, and together they raised two children. He worked for the City of Madison Street Department for 32 years and enjoyed his 22 years of retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jim was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. He loved to go to Ho Chunk, enjoyed playing poker with his family, and playing six-handed euchre with good friends every Thursday night at the former Grieg Club. Jim is survived by his wife, Jan; daughter, Sharon (Steve) Martinez of Houston, Texas; son, Mike (Georgia); and grandson, Colton of Cottage Grove; sister, Judy (Roger) Martin; brothers, Bill (Sandy) and Tom; several nieces and nephews; and his much-loved dog, Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents. A gathering will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017.
