James Lee Toay
MADISON – James Lee Toay, age 66, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Middleton Village surrounded by his family. Jim was born October 20, 1946 to parents of James W. and Violet L. (Hazelrigg) Toay of Mineral Point, WI. He married Joanne (Thompson) of Blanchardville on August 21, 1971. Jim was a 1964 graduate of Mineral Point High School and attended college at U.W. Platteville. Growing up he enjoyed farm and construction work. He worked for Professional Pest Control for 30 years. After retirement Jim spent a great deal of time caring for his grandchildren, Aaron and Rebecca. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and out-doors person but most of all enjoyed duck hunting. Throughout Jim’s ordeal he never lost his larger-than-life sense of humor and he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Joanne; daughter, Jessica (Brian) Gardner of Arlington, TX; grandchildren, Aaron and Rebecca; siblings, Rick (Mary), Gary (Julie), Tracy (Janene) and Jean (Jim) Hermanson, sister-in-law, Karen Schrenk; brother-in-law Dennis (Linda) Thompson. Further survived by many family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Amanda; mother and father-in-law Odell and Mavis (Helmeid) Thompson and brother-in-law Jerry Schrenk.
A service will be held at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Rd, Madison, at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, with Pastor Sheryl Erickson presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the time of the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at York Memorial Lutheran Church Cemetery, Blanchardville, with committal service at 2:30PM.
A heart felt thank you to Middleton Village and Agrace Hospice for the past year of care. A big shout out to his hunting buddies from the 101 Club and a special thanks to all the ducks that sacrificed their lives for the cause.
