James L. Kolbe
James “Jim” L. Kolbe ,67, of Hazel Green, WI passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, IA.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9th at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI with Father Kenneth Frisch officiating.
Burial with military honors accorded will be in the St. Francis de Sales Church Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8th at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Hazel Green, WI and on Tuesday, May 9th from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Jim was born on July 30, 1949 to John L. & Audrey Eileen (Simmons) Kolbe in Dubuque, IA. He was a graduate from Hazel Green High School and attended UW Platteville, WI. He was a US Air Force Staff Sergeant, enlistment dates from 1967-1971. He married Judith E. Kruser on July 8, 1972 in Kieler, WI. Jim was a life-long resident of Hazel Green, WI. He worked for the Village of Hazel Green as a Public Works Director, retiring after 37 years. He was a member the Hazel Green Rescue Squad for 41 years and the Hazel Green Fire Department for 10 years. He was also a member of the Hazel Green Veterans Memorial Committee, St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church and St. Francis De Sales Parish Council. Jim enjoyed traveling, music, was an avid sports fan, especially of the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers, and activities with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Judy; a son, Jason (Jesse) Kolbe of Hazel Green, WI; a daughter, Jenny (Chuck) Handfelt of East Dubuque, IL; 3 grandchildren: McKenzie Kolbe of Hazel Green, WI, Maggie & Nick Handfelt of East Dubuque, IL; a sister, Karol Kolbe of Hazel Green, WI; a brother Karl Kolbe of Texas; along with brothers-in-law & sisters-in-laws and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph, father-in-law & mother-in-law, William & Patricia Kruser and a sister-in-law, Sharon Kolbe.
In lieu of plants & flowers a James “Jim” L. Kolbe Memorial Fund has been established.
