James ‘Jim’ Ruppert

Dodgeville – James Joseph Ruppert, age 72, of Dodgeville, died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville.

Jim was born on October 6, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dodgeville, a son of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Balk) Ruppert. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1959. He worked as a carpenter since 1962, working for Loy Construction (17 yrs.), Cobb Lumber Co. (10 yrs.), Singer Lumber Co. (12 yrs.) and was self-employed until his illness forced him to retire.

Jim loved woodworking and cabinet making. He also enjoyed charity work, running and walking. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he worked closely on many projects with John Aschliman and Ray Gleisner.

Jim is survived by his siblings, David (Pat) Ruppert, of Elmhurst, IL, Shirley (John) Ring, of Madison, Mary Ruppert, of Madison, Richard (Diane) Ruppert, of Mineral Point and Mark (Connie) Ruppert, of Hudson, WI; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Ruppert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Fr. Patrick Wendler will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Joseph’s School Trust Fund or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center, Upland Hills Hospice and St. Mary’s Hospital for their loving care of Jim.
