James “Jim” Miller
MIDDLETON-James “Jim” Miller, age 65, of Middleton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Oct. 6, 1946, in Madison, the son of Angeline and Lewis Miller. Following graduation from West High School in 1964, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Jim started at Madison Gas & Electric in 1969, as a lineman and after 39 years, he retired from MG&E in 2008, as director of construction and operations. He was actively involved with his son’s sports as a soccer coach, served as President of the Elvehjem Neighborhood Association, and enjoyed being Santa Claus for the neighborhood Christmas visits. During his retirement, Jim enjoyed golfing, spending time with his granddaughter, and having an active role at the Grieg Social Club as treasurer.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher (Andrea) Miller of Madison and Andrew Miller of Madison; granddaughter, Tiffany Miller; brothers, Bill (Anita Shelare) Miller of Lakewood Ranch, Fla. and Gerald (Betty) Miller of Bradenton, Fla., and their children and grandchildren; many other nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends; and he will also be missed by his beloved dog, Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of UW Hospital for the wonderful care they provided. He was a caring and generous father, papa, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
