James “Jim” Greene
MADISON-James W. “Jim” Greene Sr., age 60, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Sept. 28, 1952, in Madison, the son of William and Lorraine (Knipfer) Greene. Jim and Judy Thompson have been together since 1986, and married on Jan. 18, 2002. He served in the U.S. Army for two years. Jim worked for the City of Madison, retiring in 2007. He worked part-time mowing fairways at Hawk’s Landing Golf Course after his retirement. Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Paige (James W.) Gaston, Tara Patterson, and James W. (Hillary) Greene Jr.; seven grandchildren, Zac, Kaitlyn, James R., Tyler, Andrew, Josh, and Bailey; mother, Lorraine Weston; sisters, Trish (Mark) Battersby, Sandy (Randy) Smith, Debbie (Ronnie) Rogers, and Diane (Jeff) Wenham; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and canine companions, Willy and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A celebration of Jim’s life will continue at VFW #1318, 133 E. Lakeside St. in Madison following the burial. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. A special thank you to the staff at Agrace HospiceCare Center for their wonderful care and support.
