James Hackl

James Hackl

James “Jim” Oscar Hackl of Spring Green passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 12, 2022, at the age of 86. Jim was born on September 26, 1936, to Oscar and Bernadetta (Siefert) Hackl. He graduated from Spring Green High School in 1954. Jim married Carolyn Longseth on June 8, 1957 at Christ Lutheran Church. Jim loved being a farmer and was considered one of the hardest workers by many. He farmed side by side with Carolyn and their son, Dennis for over 50 years. Dennis and Jim were best friends working side by side for usually 18 hours a day, 365 days a year. Together they experienced hardship, joy and fulfillment in their career as farmers. The family would not have traded this way of life for the world.

In Jim and Carolyn’s 58 years of marriage together, they were blessed with nine children and welcomed each of their spouses as one of their own. Jim was a gentle and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He lived a life with strong faith, trusting in our Lord and His plan for his family. Jim and Carolyn were members of Christ Lutheran and served in many different roles within the church. Jim was also well respected in the community and served for 37 years as a supervisor for the township of Spring Green. Jim is lovingly remembered by his nine children; Cindy (Paul) Nooyen, Brenda (Tim) Mathews, Connie (Baxter) Radel, Barb (Dave) Halverson, Dennis (Lisa) Hackl, Diane (Lance) Preuss, Nancy (Mike) Nachreiner, Dan (Karen) Hackl and Jeanne (Dave) Curtis, 31 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sisters, Betty Wardle and Bonnie (Denny) Longmier, brother-in-law, Leroy (Elaine) Longseth, sister-in-law, Linda (Marty) Kraemer, brother-in-law, Buzz Beatty and many other relatives and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife Carolyn, his parents, father and mother-in-law Lester and Hilda Longseth, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Phyllis), Bill (Virginia), Byron (Sandra) and Don (Bonnie Marie), brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken Wardle, Betty (Roger) Wilhelm, Jean Beatty, Doris (Eddie) Crook, John Longseth, granddaughter Alexis Hackl, great-granddaughter McKenzie Suchomel and several beloved nieces and nephews.
