James E. Blomquist
On November 26, 2012, James E. Blomquist, went to be with his heavenly family; parents, Edwin and Pauline Blomquist; Charlotte Weaver; many other relatives; friends; and his dog, Sam. He was born January 22, 1920 and raised in Adams-Friendship. Graduating top of his class in 1937, he attended UW Madison to study Journalism, and then transferred to Eau Claire State Teaching College until he enlisted in the US Navy in late 1939, where he proudly served as a Hospital Medical Corpsman in WWII, the Korean War and at the start of the Vietnam Conflict, transferring to Camp Douglas to serve as a Medical Services Manager until his official retirement in 1968.
Jim leaves behind his children, Steven (Bonnie), Mark (Cathy), Christine (Bobby) and Tori (Greg); along with his six grandchildren, Andy, Wendy, Christopher, Melissa, Stephanie and Jacob; and six great grandchildren; and special friends ,Vickie and Jim Draper.
The family would like to acknowledge a gracious and special friendship with David Laufenberg, who cared for dad over the last few years, along with many others, which allowed him to continue to live independently until this last September. Jim was always ready with a quick smile, a joke and a story and leaves behind many lives that he touched and impacted in some way.
Suggested memorials are to go to your local Humane Society, as Jim was a longtime supporter of Dane County Humane Society and their work.
