DODGEVILLE, Wis. — Jack H. Weirich, age 99, of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dodgeville.
Jack was born on February 8, 1918 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, a son of the late Jacob and Birdie (Stone) Weirich. He lived in San Jose, California to the age of 15 with his grandparents and his Aunt Rose. He graduated from Baraboo High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1941 to 1946.
On May 28, 1949, he married Dorothy E. McCaulley at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hollandale. He took a short course at UW-Madison in Agriculture and worked at B.F. Goodrich and then Gisholt Machine Co. He then worked for Harley Davidson in Milwaukee for 10 years and retired at age 62. Jack and Dorothy built a house on Pelican Lake in Northern Wisconsin and lived there for 25 years until moving to Dodgeville.
Jack was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodgeville. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and gardening and mostly helping other people. He was a friendly guy, who shook hands with everybody and called them “friend”.
Jack is survived by his wife of 68 years Dorothy; his sons Robert (Loretta) St. Clair of Florida and John St. Clair of Green Bay; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, his grandson Shannon St. Clair, his siblings Don, Bob, LaVern, June and Kathryn, his Aunt Rose and several more aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Inurnment will be held in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Hollandale at 2:00 p.m. with Military Graveside Rites. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the church.
