Irma Mary (Redig) Brayer died October 24, 2017 at Artisan Care Center in De Forest, WI. Ryan Funeral Home, De Forest, WI is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 12 noon to 1 pm at St Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie, WI. Mass of Christian Burial will follow with Monsignor Donn Heiar officiating. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. Burial will be Oct 30, 2017 in Marshfield, WI.
Irma was born to Michael B. Redig Jr. and Mary (Motl) Redig on February 20, 1922 in Marshfield, WI. After graduating from McKinley High School, she worked for McCain-Johnson department store as Mr. Johnson’s personal secretary. On August 23, 1941 she married John A. Brayer Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They raised nine children. Irma also enjoyed golf, bowling, sewing, card playing and having a good time. After retirement, John and Irma dedicated the next several years serving people at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Marshfield. John died May 13, 1999.
Irma is survived by children, Donald (Patricia) Northbrook, IL, James (Cathy) Green Valley, AZ, Paul (Barbara) Mukwonago, WI, Mary (Gary) Bodden De Forest, WI, Mark (Joan) Janesville, WI, Jane (Michael) Kearney Mankato, MN, Steven (Rene) Riverside, RI, and Patrick, Marshfield, WI. Also surviving, a sister, Sister Marie Regine Redig, SSND (Rita); sister-in-law, Eileen Redig; son-in-law, James Howe; 24 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
Irma was predeceased by her parents; husband, John; a sister; 3 brothers; a daughter, Rita Howe; and a grandson, Andrew Howe.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, Marshfield; Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marshfield or Heartland Hospice, Madison, WI.
