NEW GLARUS, Wis. – We’re Wandering Wisconsin this month to showcase some of the area’s hidden gems. New Glarus is located to the southwest of Madison.

Home to New Glarus Brewing, which is set to reopen to the public this fall, it is a must stop for many here in Wisconsin.

You’ll find the Swiss Historical Village & Museum at 612 7th Avenue. Get a glimpse of Swiss pioneer life while exploring each of the 14 artifact-filled Swiss Historical Village buildings, including a settler’s cabin, collectibles shop, school, blacksmith, farm implement, bee house, church and more.

The House Café & Bakery is located at 407 2nd Street. They focus on high-quality baked goods, beverages, ice creams, and healthy salads, entrees, and soups with as much local and seasonal produce as possible. It is 100% vegetarian, with many gluten-free and vegan choices available.

The Bramble Patch, found at 102 5th Avenue, has one of the largest selections of Polish pottery in the Midwest. There, you’ll also find their family’s internationally award-winning maple syrup.
