In the 608: Local men biking 1,300 miles to benefit local free health clinic
JANESVILLE, Wis. – Two local men are set to embark on a 1,300 mile trek around Lake Michigan all for a good cause.
Dan Duesterbeck and Tom Merker will be riding for Rock County HealthNet, the local free clinic in Rock County.
Coming out of the pandemic, Duesterbeck says they’ve realized how important it is for people in the community to have some type of safety net.
For every dollar that is raised for Rock County HealthNet, more than $6 of services are provided.
They’ll be riding their bikes to Lake Michigan and traveling south to the Chicago area. From there, they’ll head up the eastern shore of Lake Michigan to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, and Mackinac Island. They’re return after completing the upper trek over the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, coming down to Green Bay, up to Washington Island, and then back to Janesville.
The trip will take around three weeks to complete.
