In the 608: How Madison Fitness Week is giving back to the community

MADISON, Wis. – The Madison fitness community is coming together for a good cause this week, and you’re invited to be part of all the fun and make a positive impact, too.

Madison Fitness Week was created by Kellan Kiron and the Lululemon Hilldale team.

“We all love the Madison community, and we want to see the Madison community thrive,” Kiron said. “I just think it’s really important. We’re out here to promote health and wellness, and we’re all here to better the community and keep that overall mission in mind.”

$25 gets you access to one free class at each of the more than 25 participating gyms through this Sunday, October 10th. A majority of ticket sales will be donated to the United Way of Dane County.

“You’ll find with participating gyms, we have anything from mediation to yoga to boxing to Barr to cycling, so we have something out there for everyone. Any ability is welcome,” said Anne Kaldunski, store manager at Lululemon. “We really want to encourage everyone to come out and check it out.”

One of those taking part is Burn Boot Camp of Greater Madison. They have locations all across the 608, including Verona, Middleton, Sun Prairie, Monona, Fitchburg and Hilldale.

They thrive off of providing 45-minute cardio and strength workouts to folks across the area, but like most gyms in Dane County, they took a hit during the pandemic.

After such a tough year with restrictions in the fitness community, this week couldn’t have come at a better time.

“The fitness industry right now is struggling as a whole in just getting people in the door, but now more than ever is an important time to focus on our health and really focus on ourselves,” said Colton Woyak, head trainer at Burn Boot Camp – Middleton.

The week will end Sunday with a special event for Madison Fitness Week ticket holders only at Hilldale Shopping Center. There will be five outdoor fitness classes along with specials from Hilldale and a meditation tent.
