‘I’ll smack you in the head’: Man arrested after allegedly threatening people with baseball bat at gas station
MADISON, Wis. — Police arrested a man Friday after he allegedly threatened to beat multiple people with a baseball bat on two occasions.
Officials with the Madison Police Department said they responded to the 3000 block of East Washington Ave. around 4 p.m. Friday after receiving reports that the man was carrying around a baseball bat and yelling “I’ll smack you in the head” at people in a gas station parking lot.
The man, 19-year-old Sachel F. Hamm, reportedly ran from police when they tried making contact with him. Officers, with the help of a K-9 track, took Hamm into custody a short time later.
Police said Hamm was also the suspect in another incident where a car was damaged with a baseball bat in the 1200 block of Elizabeth Street.
Hamm was booked into the Dane County Jail on tentative charges of disorderly conduct while armed, resisting, and criminal damage to property in reference to both incidents.
