IDs, credit cards, car keys found inside crashed truck, police say
MADISON, Wis. — A number of items that were likely stolen were found inside of a crashed truck Saturday night, officials said.
The items included identification cards, credit cards, backpacks and car keys, according to a news release from the Madison Police Department.
The driver fled after colliding with a car in the 500 block of W. Doty Street. The truck ended up going across the lawn and making contact with an apartment building. This was after the driver had already struck another vehicle at the intersection of W. Washington Avenue and W. Doty Street, officials said.
The Madison Police Department did not chase the 51-year-old man, but officers did track him through a stolen iPhone X. The phone and a purse had been stolen from the Great Dane Pub and Brewing company’s downtown location Saturday afternoon, according to the release.
Over the course of a couple of hours, the victim’s credit cards had been used to run-up hundreds of dollars in charges at several businesses, officials said.
The Madison Police Department are looking for a person of interest with no permanent address and a long criminal history that includes theft and credit card fraud.
