Police: No victim found in shooting at Mall of America
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP/WISC) — Police in Minnesota say no one was hurt after someone fired multiple gunshots at the Mall of America in suburban Minneapolis Thursday afternoon.
During a briefing Thursday night, Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said three shots were fired near the Nike store inside the mall around 4:15 p.m. The shots came after two groups of young adults got into an argument near the cash register at the Nike store.
“Instead of walking away, they decided to demonstrate a complete lack of respect for human life,” Hodges said.
Video posted to social media showed what appeared to be a man shouting as he walked near the complex’s Nike store, with at least three apparent gunshots.
As of Thursday night, no arrests have been made. Hodges urged those involved to turn themselves in.
The mall, which opened in 1992, is the largest in the U.S. and is a tourist destination and community gathering spot.
