UPDATE: La Crosse County Sheriff investigating triple homicide near Holmen

TOWN OF HAMILTON, Wis. (WKBT) — The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a triple homicide between Holmen and West Salem.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of three people found dead at 4:57 a.m. at the entrance to the Milestone Quarry, or Romskog Quarry, in the town of Hamilton, according to Sheriff Jeff Wolf.

Two employees of Milestone Materials arrived for work and found the bodies, he said.

“We believe at this time that it was a targeted act. We do not know the reason for the homicide. There were no vehicles left at the scene,” Wolf said.

Investigators believed the crime happened while it was dark.

“It’s a very fluid case at this time. It’s a very complicated crime scene,” Wolf said.

Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Wisconsin State Patrol, The La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office and La Crosse County Medical Examiner’s Office were all at the scene Friday.

The victims have not yet been identified. The sheriff asks people who live on Hwy. M north of West Salem or on Hwy. S near Onalaska to save security footage and provide it to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s office to try and identify any vehicles involved in the crime.

“We are getting a lot of information. It is coming very fast … We are following up on a lot of things right now,” Wolf said.

The sheriff’s office will share more information on the investigation when they can, he said. People are being asked to avoid the area.

Milestone Materials is a division of Mathy Construction Company. It provides stone, crushed stone, sand and gravel products, according to its website.
